  Job Title: Flight Operations Engineer

  Work Hours: Monday - Friday  8:00AM - 5:00PM

Essential Functions:

The Flight Operations Engineer maintains all aircraft performance data used in the computation of flight plans.  Requests for new aircraft performance data are received from customers or appropriate Jeppesen representatives thereof, data is loaded from manufacturer-provided sources, and updated database files are passed to QA for loading on production systems.  Work is supervised by the Technical Lead and/or Manager of Application Development.  The Flight Operations Engineer works closely with Application Development, Quality Assurance, Customer Support, and Project Management, and has direct contact with customers.  Loads aircraft performance data in the flight planning aircraft performance databases maintenance based on requests from customers, customer support personnel, and project managers.  Prioritizes pending requests and updates customers, both internal and external, with progress reports and completion estimates.  Responds to inquiries regarding the loaded aircraft performance data, including but not limited to the domain limits of loaded data, specific data points, and the source of the loaded data.  Maintains an orderly record of all data to support modification of and inquiries about data in a timely fashion.  Takes steps to guarantee the quality of loaded data (see "Quality Expectations" below).  Investigates reported flight planning anomalies that are or may be related to the aircraft performance data.  Works together with Quality Assurance and Application Development to identify the source of problems that may or may not be related to the aircraft performance data.  Works with Application Development to evaluate changes to the aircraft performance data structure and/or new types of aircraft performance data.  Identifies requirements for in-house software to further automate the aircraft performance data load process.  Keep up-to-date on new features/performance of the flight planning system to help in understanding reported flight-planning anomalies.

Education/Experience:

A four-year college degree in aviation or aerospace/mechanical engineering and three years related aviation experience, or a transport category aircraft rated pilot or certified dispatcher and three years related aviation experience, or the equivalent combination of training and experience
