Flight Test Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

? Prepare written development or FAA Part 23 certification test plans and reports following company formats

? Plan and coordinate all testing to be performed on assigned test aircraft

? Participate as an on-board flight test engineer

? Conducts any ground test in support of flight test objectives

? Coordinate with test pilot(s), instrumentation, maintenance, engineering, and customer representatives as required ensuring the aircraft is configured properly to meet test objectives.

? Assist in control law development



 REQUIREMENTS

Individual must have a strong background in flight dynamics and automatic flight controls, be a degreed BS engineer with embedded software experience, and have worked with DO-178B software. Capability with the MatLab tool set for analysis, and embedded system development experience a must.

? 5+ years experience

? Experience in Part 23 aircraft certification including: writing development and FAA part 23 certification test plans and reports

? Understand the requirements and test methods necessary to show FAA compliance

? A firm understanding of the principles used in determining the performance and flying qualities of fixed wing aircraft

? Knowledge of autopilot control laws is highly desireable

? Experienced in creating flight test plans, test cards, data reduction and analysis

? Familiarity with avionics data buses, such as ARINC 429 & 422
