SUBJ: MILITARY PROGRAM MANAGER POSITION
Tel-Instrument Electronics Corp, a world leader in the development and design of avionics test equipment for the commercial and military aviation industry with a 50 year history, has an immediate opportunity for a military program manager.
Job Description:
This individual will have a high degree of professionalism and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills in addition to excellent program management abilities. This position reports to the Director of Business Development. Individual will serve as the main point of contact between our military customers and the company. Person will also work with the executive staff of the company which includes the CEO, Director of Business Development, VP of Engineering, and Director of Manufacturing. He/she must be capable of managing multiple tasks, resolving conflicting requirements, and establishing priorities. A positive ?can do? attitude is essential for this position. In addition, the company is seeking an individual who also possesses a degree of technical knowledge and proficiency in the electronic field.
Additional Position Responsibilities
1) Maintain military program schedules by coordinating with departmental managers.
2) Write status report for military customers and coordinate and prepare associated and contractually required documentation.
3) Be proactive in identifying problems and bottlenecks before they happen, and providing solutions.
4) Have a sufficient technical background to understand technically involved documentation (specifications, schematics, mechanical drawings, test data, etc.) so as to assist engineering and business development in identifying discrepancies between customer specifications and hardware/software performance.
5) Willingness to travel to customer sites for meetings and support for extended time durations.
6) Conduct internal sales meetings and keep appropriate records.
7) Manage and track program budgets (CDRL costs, labor expenses, program related expenditures), and generate appropriate reports for internal and customer use.
8) Handle the government contracts and procedures.
9) Administers subcontracts.
10) Develops internal and customer related presentation material.
11) Experience in management of major subcontracting.
Position Requirements
1) BS in EE, ME, or CS with a Masters or MBS preferred.
2) 4+ years in a military program management position managing high dollar value projects through the development and manufacturing process. Knowledge of government logistics and documentation requirements.
3) Must have (no exceptions) an understanding through ?hands on? experience (either technical or managerial) in the engineering design and development process. Individual will be working with the Engineering Director to assist in the coordination of these activities and to effectively communicate technically complex issues to the customers on an ongoing basis.
4) Must have (no exceptions) knowledge of the procedures and processes in transitioning a new design to production. Individual will be working with the Manufacturing Director on these matters to efficiently transition designs into the factory.
5) Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Power Point, Word, Excel, and Visio.
6) Ability to read and understand electronic specifications, schematics, layouts, test procedures, mechanicals, etc.
7) Added Plus: Having worked in an ISO facility.
8) Added Plus: Have working knowledge of test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.) so as to be able to work with engineering staff if needed to conduct independent performance verifications and also demonstrate performance to technically savvy customers.
