PLC Software Design Engineer

Rolls-Royce is pleased to announce an opening for a PLC Software Design Engineer in our Annapolis, MD facility.

The successful candidate will:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Conduct functional analyses, allocate requirements, and define interfaces to capture and translate customer requirements into software specifications and requirements. Design; develop, code, test and document military software subsystem(s) using an IEC 61131-1 compliant development language in a softPLC execution environment. Meet with customer?s engineering team to support planning and conduct of integration testing for the developed software into a larger software system and environment.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.

Position requirements include:

MANDATORY: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related engineering discipline. 5-10+ years of experience in developing control applications including: IEC 61131-3 compliant PLC or softPLC software development environments; IEEE 12207 software development, test, and documentation; experience with large software systems design and development; self-motivated, confident individual with strong interpersonal skills to work in international and multi site teams. Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills. Must be willing and able to travel in U.S and internationally. Must be a US Citizen with the ability to qualify for U.S. Government Secret Security clearance.

NON MANDATORY: US Military or Naval damage control, machinery control or combat system software experience a strong plus. Knowledge and experience with SEI CMM Level III
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Comfortable working periodically in a shipboard machinery room environment.
