DESCRIPTION

Wichita, Kansas is the headquarters for Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., which was purchased by Onex Corp. from Boeing Commercial Airplanes in 2005. In addition to Wichita, the company has operations in Tulsa and McAlester, Oklahoma, and the United Kingdom. Spirit AeroSystems supplies commercial airplane assemblies and components, provides aftermarket support, and designs and fabricates tooling.


Job Description: PROCUREMENT MANAGER, #24621: Incumbent will be responsible for assuring the on-time delivery of quality acceptable production parts, tooling raw materials, and hardware in support of the AeroStructures Business Unit end items on the 787
program. Responsible for providing technical and schedule management support to all subcontractors. Provide leadership in defining and evaluating subcontractor capabilities and capacity. Provides management interfaces to all internal functions and manages supplier deliveries to support uninterrupted production
and resultant on-time deliveries of end items by the business unit. Manage the process and lead the people responsible for assuring that material suppliers and subcontractors performance, including cost; quality, schedule and technical compliance are consistent with contract requirements and manufacturing
operations expectations. Provides visibility of performance to senior management and formulates plans and strategies to resolve internal and external problems associated with supplier performance. Directs the activities of locally assigned as well as personnel geographically assigned throughout the United States and
abroad.REQUIREMENTS

Skills & Qualifications:
Working experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes including fabrication, assembly, manufacturing engineering, composites, treatments and finishes. General knowledge and
familiarity of the aerospace supply chain. Substantial familiarity with procurement processes and ability to interface and provide insight and direction to procurement professionals. Must be able to resolve problems and meet deadlines combining technical and people skills.

Education Requirements:
Prefer a bachelor?s degree and 6 to 9 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 5 years direct experience and a 4 year degree or 12 years successful direct experience including at least 5 years of management responsibility in an Aerostructures manufacturing environment. Candidate must have hands on experience in both Aerostructures
manufacturing and materials management.
