Performance Engineer

Rolls-Royce is pleased to announce an opening for a Performance Engineer in our Indianapolis, Indiana facility.

The successful candidate will:
Manages American Eagles R-R powered engine fleet to maximize fleet operational reliability and reduce airline and R-R operational costs. Recommends improvements to operational reliability by determining and addressing the top-drivers for delays and cancellations. Monitors airline's on-wing engineering programs, and makes recommendations to reduce unscheduled and scheduled line maintenance activities. Initiates and makes recommendations for Engineering Change paperwork & Maintenance Manual modifications. Generates and leads technically based business proposals to convince airline and maintenance providers of operational cost-reduction initiatives. Monitors modification program plan to ensure it best meets airline's needs. Analyzes EHM alert data to understand trends, and makes recommendations for scheduled activity. Directs data analysis to support service at Rolls-Royce and DS&S as appropriate. Provides technical support to airline as needed. Represents airline powerplant function during internal and external meetings. Ensures airline's views are provided to Rolls-Royce Customer Service Manager and local Field Service Office on all technical matters. Reports on quarterly service benefits to airline technical leadership and financial team. Assists in the further development of the service offerings

Position requirements include:
Basic Qualifications: BSME, BSAE or equivalent college degree with major in engineering, science, or mathematics and 10-15 years experience or MS degree and 8-12 years experience in aircraft engine design/development is required. Experience in the performance-related support of the design and/or development of gas turbines is required including the simulation/modeling of gas turbines cycles, cycle analysis, sizing, and/or preliminary design analysis. Demonstarted ability to define, plan and execute engineering related tasks to satisfy overall technical, schedule and budget objectives required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Background or demonstrated expertise in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluid dynamics and/or propulsion system design preferred. Knowledge of computer programming using FORTRAN, Visual Basic, and/or C++ is preferred. Proficiency in written and oral communication using the English language is required. Demonstrated ability to operate in team environment.
