Performance Engineer - RR300

Rolls-Royce is pleased to announce an opening for a Performance Engineer - RR300 in our Indianapolis, IN facility.
The successful candidate will:
Independently perform complex propulsion systems cycle analysis and performance prediction using new advanced practices and computer simulations to satisfy an overall set of requirements. Understand system level issues related to propulsion systems design, performance operability and operation. Evaluate engine data and document results in support of development and flight test program, production and field commissioning, including test cell correlation. Initiate resolution of critical performance issues requiring thorough understanding of interdisciplinary engineering fundamentals. Support engine planning and instrumentation definition for performance related testing. Balance complex or conflicting requirements using sound engineering judgment. Proactively provide full technical support of and coordination with product design and support teams. Define and generate computer code or modification of existing code as required. Represent engine performance function on Integrated Product Team (IPT). Publish technical reports and conduct technical presentations of engineering analyses and results. Present performance function to customers, both internal and externals to Rolls-Royce.
Position requirements include:
BSME, BSAE or equivalent college degree with major in engineering, science, or mathematics and 10-15 years experience or MS degree and 8-12 years experience in aircraft engine design/development is required. Background or demonstrated expertise in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluid dynamics and/or propulsion system design preferred. Experience in the performance-related support of the design and/or development of gas turbines is required including the simulation/modeling of gas turbines cycles, cycle analysis, sizing, and/or preliminary design analysis. Demonstrated ability to define, plan and execute engineering related tasks to satisfy overall technical, schedule and budget objectives required. Knowledge of computer programming using FORTRAN, Visual Basic, and/or C++ is preferred. Proficiency in written and oral communication using the English language is required. Demonstrated ability to operate in team environment.
