Principal Design Checker Specialist

A Principal Checker Design Specialist to perform design verification, and redesign of complex hydraulic and electro-mechanical actuators and actuation systems including the PWB's that provide control of these items. They also examine Engineering drawings and related documents for dimensional design fit, tolerance stack-up, angles, correctness of materials and processes, clarity, and conformity to design/drafting/configuration standards, design specifications.

 

Responsibilities to Include: Perform both electronic model and drawing check as well as manual check of hard copy documentation.  Will confer with design personnel to resolve drawing and design discrepancies.  Verify the correctness of specifications and standards specified on the drawings. ?Verify the mechanical aspects and packaging of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies.  Develops and applies advanced engineering theories, methods, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems.  Directs projects or major phases of design projects and coordinates the efforts of technical support staff. Analyzes, evaluates, and plans methods of approach and organizes means to achieve the solution of complex technical problems.  Devises new approaches to problems encountered.  Recommends corrections in technical analysis and design to ensure project completion.  May supervise or coordinate the work of engineers, other professionals, technicians and others who assist in specific assignments.

 

Education: Bachelors Degree with 8 ? 11 years experience.  Masters Degree with 6 ? 9 years experience.  Ph.D. with 3 ? 6 years experience.

 

Position Requirements: Must have than 8+ years experience in an aerospace environment working as a designer/checker.  Should be adept at using computer aided design tools to perform design verification of complex control elements.  Experience in the mechanical aspects of printed circuit board design and packaging as well as other electronic component packaging is required.  Experience using Unigraphics (NX3 preferred). Complete understanding of GD&T based on ASME Y14.5 and have a working knowledge of applicable industry specs and standards.  A combination of Design Engineering and Check/Drawing Quality experience is expected.  Must have the ability to work in a fast paced team environment where critical and tight schedules are common and must be met with quality results.
