Product Design Manager

Demonstrate knowledge of in-flight entertainment industries including systems principles, thermal constraints, wiring installation, and knowledge of FAA and/or JAA regulatory requirements. Research, plan and design electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical products and systems, including Cabin Management Systems, Cabin Controls, Flat Panel LCD Monitors, CD Players, DVD Players and VCRs, Stereo Amplifiers, Speakers and Subwoofers.  Directs and coordinates the activities involved in the creation and maintenance of engineering documentation to support manufacturing of in-flight entertainment systems (IFE) by performing the following duties.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsible to create feasibility study of Customer/OEM requirements. Generate layout and expand to viable working layout in conjunction with all ITAN, OEM and Customer specifications and/or requirements. Prepare technical proposals when required.
Diverse leadership skills: shall be accountable to manage an IFE design team. Responsibilities shall include design implementation from concept to initial production, schedule management and management of assigned designers.
Proficiency to evaluate new and/or existing designs for cost savings implementation and ease of manufacturing.
Theoretical knowledge of Program Management practices. Emphasis place on schedule management; ability to review schedules for critical path and task oriented relationships.
Maintain detailed records to establish and verify design revolution. Coordinate through Project Management the implementation of all Customer/OEM directed change requests to ensure Customer Satisfaction.
Participate in all pertinent design reviews i.e. PDR, CDR and FAI. Initiate and facilitate all internal technical reviews.
Responsible to help mentor peers in common practices and procedure utilized by ITAN to ensure cohesive design environment.
Adherence to all ITAN designs process/procedures and alignment with quality standards.
Develops and recommends design enhancements which will result in realized cost saving opportunities.
Established project goals and objectives, both short and long range, to ensure that any contingencies may be minimized

QUALIFICATIONS:

BSME or BSEE required plus 5+ years experience in aircraft IFE or avionics/electronic systems development.

Knowledge of switched Ethernet communications, serial buses (RS485, 232) and avionic buses (ARINC 429).

Knowledge of embedded microprocessor / micro-controller design and development.

Basics in Internet Technology (TCP/IP, HTML, browsers, servers, MPEG1/2/4, MP3)

Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Edge) and MS Software.

Awareness and concept of Quality Management, Design for Manufacturability, Total Quality Control and ISO 9000/AS 9100.
