Project/Program Manager

Job Summary:   Manages the activities of product lines/projects/programs involving department or cross-functional teams.  Focuses on delivery within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.  Monitors the product line/program/project from initiation through delivery.  Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, procedures for accomplishing project and allotment of available resources to various phases of project; reports findings to management.  Recommends business and operational goals; ensures operation meets the goals.  Confers with project staff to outline work plan and responsibilities.  Coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.  Compiles status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required; prepares project reports for management, client, or others.  Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.  Significant customer interface, program expansion and increase in current sales and content at assigned customers, 30 ? 35% travel, and no direct reports.

 

Job Requirements:  Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university; and minimum five years related experience and/or training. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and /or boards of directors.  Formal training in Project/Program Management, MS Scheduler, Pert charts, Gantt charts and Visio.
