Quality Assurance Manager - Military Defense & Aerospace

Special Devices, Incorporated, a globally recognized leader in the design and manufacture of highly reliable precision-engineered explosive and pyrotechnic devices, is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for our Military Defense and Aerospace (MD&A) Division based in Moorpark, California.

 

This ?hands-on? position is responsible for directing, developing and providing leadership for the practical application of quality engineering tools such as SPC, DOE, and FMEA?s in support of high-reliability manufacturing. 

 

Specific duties include:

 

? Conducts activities of MD&A quality department and performs functions necessary to ensure timely compliance to DoD, DOT, FAR, DAR regulations.

? Initiates corrective actions deemed necessary from continual analysis of SPC and failure reporting data.

?  Develops and has signature approval of documentation such as SOP, PS, DFMEA, PFMEA, drawings, and SOP etc.

?  Provides engineering support and analyses for internal/external quality issues, process improvement projects and cross-functional teams.

?  Generates Control Plans, OP, REI, and Test Plans.

?  Performs System, Implementation, and Process audits.

?  Implements and analyzes SPC applications.

?  Designs, implements, maintains and analyzes defect reporting systems and generates periodic reports.

?  Interfaces with customers.

?  Analyzes and enacts Material Review Board decisions.

?  Participates in all phases of design reviews of products and process equipment to assure that quality is controllable and expected reliability is realistic.

?  Conducts failure analyses utilizing modern diagnostic, dissection, simulation, and analytical techniques.

 

Job qualifications include:

 

? BS degree in a related field, CQM desired.  A combination of a BA plus related progressive working experience is acceptable.

? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

? Experience leading major process improvement efforts.

? 10 + years of progressively responsible experience in process improvement,   Quality Engineering and operations management.  A combination of 7 years experience plus a MS degree is acceptable.

? 5+ years experience working in Quality function with direct Military quality responsibilities.  Must be knowledgeable of ISO 9001:2000 and AS 9100 Quality Standards.

? Exceptional computer skills including the use of statistical modeling and ANOVA techniques.

? Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, DOE, FAR, DAR, DOT, DOC and WAWF: Wide Area Work Flow system.

? Must be able to read and understand SOPs.

? Must be able to read and understand English.
