Position SummaryResponsible for the verification of the quality of machined components, fabricated sheet metal components, subassemblies and/or assemblies.  Assure conformance to customer requirements and specifications. 

 

Essential Functions

?  In process and final inspection detail parts and/or assemblies to ensure conformity to customer provided engineering drawings, tooling and specifications.

?  Perform mechanical functional operational tests in accordance with established documented procedures.

?  Verify correct processes used during manufacturing.

?  Prepare and maintain required forms and inspection records pertaining to the verification of product, including first articles.

?  Inspect and verify rivet, torqued fasteners and other threaded fastener installation.

?  Document and maintain records of various coatings on product (primers, topcoats) and samples of coated product for durability evaluation.

?  Document discrepancies for investigation by Engineering.

?  Inspect tooling, generate/update tool file cards.

?  Assist other inspectors in the conduct of the business.

?  Document and dispose of scrapped parts.

?  Record inspections manually and electronically.?  Maintain various certification requirements through OJT, studying and testing.

 Additional Duties

?  May be selected as a customer source inspector.

 

Skills Required

?  Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematic blueprints, sketches and other referenced documents and materials used in this job category. 

?  Able to pass a yearly eye examination with corrected or uncorrected distance vision of 20/30 and able to read Jaeger 1 at twelve inches minimum. 

?  Must be capable to secure the certifications that may be necessary to fulfill job functions. 

?  Basic computer skills.

?  Able to use inspection tools and equipment.

?  Good communication skills

 Education and Experience Required

High school education or equivalent.  Background in some field related to quality assurance with at least two years experience is preferred.  Demonstrated ability to consistently conduct proper inspection activities will be acceptable as substitute for the preferred experience.

 

Working Conditions:

?  Working environment: Work areas have high noise levels.  Oil, grease, grime, and dust are present. Production facility is not environmentally controlled: temperature of working area will reflect the outside weather conditions.

?  Special Equipment to be Used: Calipers, gage blocks, height gages, micrometers, scales, rules, bore scopes, surface plates. 

?  Personal Protective Equipment Requirements: Must use safety glasses and earplugs within the immediate production areas where required.

?  Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

?  Working Hours/Overtime requirements: Normal 40-hour workweek.  Overtime and weekends as required.
