SM-3 KW and Avionics Proj Mgr
Description:
As the SM-3 KW and Avionics Project Manager, work closely with the PD 452 Missile Branch Program Office and Raytheon, the SM-3 prime contractor, to establish and execute the SM-3 Program and ensure that APL resources are tasked and utilized appropriately. Duties: Work with the APL Aegis BMD Program and Project Managers to help establish and manage the program internally at APL, and coordinate closely with PD 452 Missile Branch staff to develop program plans to support the production of SM-3 Block I/IA missiles and the development of SM-3 Block IB and Block II/IIA missiles. Coordinate APL activities with the needs of the government program office (PD-452) and the Prime Missile Contractor. Provide coordinating leadership and oversight of APL staff for developing program plans, translating sponsor desires to technical objectives, and producing and providing deliverables to the government, other Laboratories and industry as appropriate and as directed. Assist with the coordination and oversight of APL staff executing the program. Interact with the government sponsor and APL technical management to ensure that project and program milestones are met. Develop plans to ensure appropriate funding coverage for APL and timely delivery and documentation of APL products. Assist in resolving internal APL resource conflicts between programs. Develop and maintain awareness and knowledge of the APL technical tasks as they relate to the core competencies of the Missile Branch, government Sponsors, and the needs of Aegis BMD Technical Director. Apply this awareness knowledge to initial stages of task planning and new task formulation. Work with PD-452 and Raytheon to maintain awareness and respond appropriately to action items and requests by Navy leadership. Incorporate actions and responses into the appropriate phases of task planning and new task formulation. Attend management and technical meetings and forums involving Aegis BMD activity and issues in a capacity to represent both APL and the government Sponsor.
Qualifications:
Required: BS in Engineering, Physics or equivalent. Demonstrated success in developing or leading complex engineering tasks which involve a significant degree of systems engineering skills. Possess good interpersonal skills. Familiarity with top level IR sensor; seeker; guidance, navigation, and control; software modeling and development; and systems engineering concepts associated with SM-3 and Navy Ballistic Missile Defense. Ability and willingness to interact with multiple sponsors, APL Staff, Group and Branch managers to arrive at mutually acceptable plans. Desired: Program Management training and experience. Familiarity with Navy systems and protocol. Ability to obtain TS clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
