Satellite Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

 Oversee contractors to ensure they meet and verify performance against their specifications, reviewing contractor RVCMs, TPMs, analyses and test data.  Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation approaches to management.

 

 Manage the engineering efforts to derive satellite design requirements from top-level internal and external customer needs; document in technical specifications.  Manage interface issues between contractors, assigning tasks to department staff and pulling in programmatic support when necessary.

 

 Work cooperatively with other groups within DigitalGlobe to ensure satellite operability and inter-segment compatibility.

 

 Represent the Space Segment at all major design reviews, briefing NGA and their representatives and responding to action items as needed.

 

Qualifications:

Work Experience

At least 7 years of experience in the development of satellites for operational programs including:

? Satellite requirements development

? System budgeting and performance analyses

? Development and Implementation of a test verification program

? Preparation and presentation of briefings for customers

 

Managerial/Supervisory Skills

Initially, this position will have no direct reports.  However, it is anticipated that junior engineers may report to this position in the future.  Therefore some supervisory experience is a plus.

 

Technical Knowledge/Skills

? Knowledge of all aspects of spacecraft development from initial concept through construction, integration, test, and launch.

? Demonstrated technical leadership and team management skills.

? Experience writing technical specifications, performing systems analyses and managing requirements allocations.

? Ability to critically evaluate spacecraft design, analysis and test programs to identify flaws, oversights, and potential risks before they become schedule-critical issues.

 

Interpersonal Skills and Abilities

? Aggressive, yet amiable personality:  calmly yet relentlessly pursue open issues until satisfactorily resolved.

? Solid public speaker

 

Education Required

Required: B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering

Desired:  M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering
