Sr. Systems Engineer Contract in Colorado Springs

We are working with a company to help them identify a contract Senior Systems Engineer for a six month contract opportunity.

Position Description:
* Systems Engineering (SE) focuses on defining customer needs and required functionality early in the development cycle, documenting requirements and proceeding with design synthesis and system validation while considering the complete project.
* Involving an interdisciplinary approach and means to enable the realization of successful systems, systems engineering considers both the business and the technical needs of all customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user needs.
* In addition to having a desire and ability to think in a systems perspective, this SE position requires a person with a systems test engineering background, bringing systems test expertise to the SE team. The person in this position will primarily support the GSCCE project.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Focuses on defining customer needs and required functionality early in the development cycle, documenting requirements, then proceeding with design synthesis and system validation while considering the complete problem.
* Requires a thorough understanding of Systems Architecture in the development of Concept Definitions and ConOps of DoD SATCOM Ground Systems.
* The person in this position will primarily support current DoD programs and future opportunities, performing the following tasks:
* Provide Systems Engineering Services
** Perform subsystem integration, support the test team, resolve system issues
** Characterize the system to ensure adequate performance margins
** Ensure compliance to project budget and schedule
* Requirements Management
** Support requirements management processes and process improvements
** Lead efforts to ensure and improve requirements quality/clarity
** Lead Modeling and Simulation efforts
** Systems Verification and Validation
* Process Support
** Ensure compliance with applicable Systems Division and CIS processes
** Develop Systems Engineering processes and deploy

As part of the CIS Systems Engineering Team, this person will:
* Support the team's capabilities development
* Identify improvement areas and suggest solutions
* Track new trends, methods, technologies to enhance systems engineering services
* Support proposal development
* Provide mentoring to the engineering team members
* Support/lead process development/improvements

This individual should not only have strong systems engineering, analytical, and problem solving skills the position also requires experience in SATCOM, Network Architecture and Design, and/or Information Systems.

This position requires a thorough understanding of a broad spectrum of engineering topics such as computer hardware, software, and firmware; hardware such as rack systems and equipment mounting; facilities-type issues such as heating/cooling, electrical requirements, EMC/EMI, and security.

The ability to develop teams and guide them to superior performance while making sure they are having fun is a strongly desired skill.

Experience Requirements:
* Value Based Six Sigma (VBSS) certification a plus.
* BS degree in an engineering discipline (Areospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering), MS degree preferred. * Ten (10) or more years of SATCOM systems development related experience.
* The individual must be able to demonstrate direct engineering design and development experience in relevant areas.
* The candidate must be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and able to provide guidance to associated project and engineering staff.
