Structure Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

Troubleshoot, inspect, and perform maintenance on customer aircraft sheet metal components and hydraulics in accordance with applicable technical data and FAA/JAA regulations.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

? 0-4 years structural repair/modification experience or equivalent schooling

? Airframe Certificate

? Structures minimum tool list

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

? Prior experience in sheet metal repair, sheet metal and composite repair/modification

? Powerplant Certificate

? Tug Operator Qualified

? Forklift Operator Qualified

? Ground Support Equipment Operator Qualified

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions):

1. Adhere to BRAS General Work Instructions

2. Remove and install aircraft components including, but not limited to:  valves, bracketry, engine cowls, fasteners, airframe components, landing gear doors, access panels, and fairings on aircraft as they relate to structure repair/modification or obstruction of tasks assigned

3. Document work performed per appropriate manuals including, but not limited to, Maintenance Manual (MM), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Structure Repair Manual (SRM)

4. Perform component repairs in accordance with Repair Station Certificate as required

5. Fabricate aircraft parts and ground support equipment per engineering drawings and specifications as required

6. Fabricate and install structural modifications on aircraft

7. Inspect parts as required including inspection for warranty consideration

8. Assist in conducting hidden damage inspection of aircraft structures

9. Apply cleaning solvent and proper sealing compound according to maintenance and structural repair manuals, and engineering drawings

10. Assist with complex structural repairs at on-site or off-site locations

11. Comply with all environmental health and safety policies and procedures included but not limited to Safety Manual section 1225

 

NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-Essential Functions):

1. Assist in towing aircraft

2. Assist maintenance technicians in troubleshooting aircraft when sheetmetal duties are complete

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1. Basic knowledge of reading and interpreting aircraft blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and manuals

2. Basic knowledge of aircraft systems

3. Basic knowledge of manuals necessary to perform job including, but not limited to, SR Maintenance Manual and Component Installation Manual, Systems Manual, Maintenance Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and various technical information necessary to perform job

4. Basic knowledge of the differences between repair station, developmental and production engineering, and corresponding paperwork

5.  Basic knowledge of maintenance manuals, parts catalog, and applicable FAA documents

6. Basic knowledge in fabrication of sheet metal and/or composite components and assemblies, aircraft parts and ground support equipment per engineering drawings, sketches, advance designs, specifications and/or verbal instructions

7. Skill to measure using a variety of basic and physical measuring devices

8. Skill to use basic hand tools necessary to perform job

9. Skill to operate ground support equipment as necessary to perform job

10.  Skill to fabricate and/or assemble various detail parts and components

11.  Skill to measure using a variety of basic and precision measuring devices relating to job function

12.  Skill to fabricate and install structural modifications on aircraft

13.  Skill to repair composite structures per structural and repair manuals

14.  Skill to apply sealing compounds
