Technical Product Designer Level II

Wichita, Kansas is the headquarters for Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., which was purchased by Onex Corp. from Boeing Commercial Airplanes in 2005. In addition to Wichita, the company has operations in Tulsa and McAlester, Oklahoma, and the United Kingdom. Spirit AeroSystems supplies commercial airplane assemblies and components, provides aftermarket support, and designs and fabricates tooling.


Job Description:
Frequently uses a basic and general understanding of CAD design principles and concepts.
Applies related data preparation standards and techniques to utilize company tools and processes to plan, layout, create, and revise data depicting engineering designs based largely on precedents.
Completes designs and related documentation initiated by others.
Follows established practices and procedures in the absence of clear-cut precedents to provide solutions to a variety of routine technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Latitude: Works under general oversight with minimal instruction for routine work and with general instructions for new lines of work or special assignments.
Works from basic layouts, sketches, and work statements prepared by others.
Performs routine or standardized work, following established processes, procedures, and standards, choosing from a variety of well-established options.
Assignments are reviewed for soundness and overall adequacy and accuracy.
Contact: Contacts are primarily internal to the organization with occasional inter-organizational and outside customer interaction on routine matters, obtaining or providing information requiring some explanation or interpretation.

 

Requirements
. Typically 3 or more years? related experience.
. Prefer an associate?s degree in an applicable engineering or manufacturing technology program such as mechanical or electrical design, CAD drafting, pre-engineering or manufacturing engineering.
. CATIA experience is an absolute requirement
. This position is in Wichita, KS.
