Valve Design Engineer

Immediate need for Valve Design Engineer. Will design and develop innovative light weight High Rate Discharge Military Vehicle Fire supression components and systems, using a variety of new agents, materials and actuation approaches. Duties include mechanical design and project leadership including test and development of fire supression equipment. Prepares designs in accordance with customer and applicable specifications and prepares technical and cost proposals. Interfaces with other departments to coordinate design and engineering documentation release. Supervises fabrication and conducts testing on development and prototype hardware. Prepares SDRL data and analysis as may be required for specific programs (stress, FEA, fluid flow, vibration, heat transfer, R&M, etc.). Prepares reports to document the results of design studies, trade studies, failure analyses, and test programs. Evaluates field problems and recommends design changes. Provides technical assistance to manufacturing and troulbe shooting production problems whenever required.

REQUIREMENTS
MIN. of BS degree in mechanical engineering, fire protection engineering or engineering technology, advanced engineering degree desirable. Must be US citizen capable of obtaining security clearance. MIN 5 years experience in new product development and product design. Familiar with fluid handling product design and seal design (greater than 1000 psi pressure). Familiar with ferrous (steel and stainless steel) and non-ferrous (alum.) casting and forging techniques. Capable of identifying heat treatments, protective finishes, and other manufacturing processes such as brazing, soldering and welding. Experience with med. to low volume metal manufacturing processes. Familiar with designing products to industry, agency, or military standards (can read and understand industry or MIL standards).
VALVE design experience. Solenoid valve design a plus.

DESIRABLE
Pressure vessle design. Experience with wide variety of elastomers and seal configurations. Experience developing 1 amp 1 watt elctro explosive devices compliant with Mil-I-23659 and Mil-D-21625. Analytical skills in fluid flows, heat transfer and thermodynamics. Solenoid design. FEA analysis. Metal finishing (passivation, anodizing, plating, etc.). Development of patented products, AutoCad, Catia, Unigraphics. Experience in developing project cost estimates and schedules, test plans, supervision of testing, and writing test reports. Experience with DOT pressure vessel codes.
