X-Ray Tech Level I/Inspector Penetrant Level II

Summary:

As a Penetrant Level II: Inspect ferrous and non-ferrous metal parts for flaws using Fluorescent Penetrant.

As a Radiographic Technician Level I: Set-up and process parts using conventional and/or Real-time X-Ray equipment and devices.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

PENETRANT LEVEL II DUTIES:Inspects ferrous and non-ferrous parts and assemblies using the Fluorescent Penetrant process. Evaluate discontinuities for acceptance or rejection per customer acceptance criteria.Familiar with specifications that control Penetrant Inspection. Have a basic knowledge of product manufacturing and inspection technology.Must be qualified as a Level II Penetrant Inspector per NAS 410, capable of providing guidance to trainees and Level I personnel.Perform the set-up and standardization of equipment, able to conduct tests, and document results.

RADIOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN LEVEL I DUTIES:Processes ferrous and non-ferrous parts and assemblies using Conventional and/or Real-time X-Ray equipment and devices.Must be qualified as a Level I Radiographic Technician per NAS 410, capable of providing assistance to Level II and III personnel.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to perform all the work operations as described and to use necessary tools and equipment. Must be able to pass examination for certificate if required. Must be able to read drawings.

Materials Worked With: Ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic welded parts, machine parts, and other materials: Fluorescent Penetrant, Non-Aqueous Wet Developer, Dry Powder Developer, Acetone, Radiographic Film, Lead Numbers, Developer and Fixer (Film Processing Chemicals).

Tools Used: Any inspection instruments and equipment necessary to complete the inspection assignment: Point Micrometer, Lupe-Comparator, Tri-Con Gun, Light Meter, Film Densitometer, Film Viewer, calculator, and marking pens.
