Architect Co-op

TITLE: ARCHITECT CO-OP SUPERVISED BY: PROJECT COORDINATOR AND/OR SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECTREPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF DESIGN OR DIRECTOR OF ARCHITECTURESUPERVISES:   N/A

GENERAL SUMMARY:

With close supervision from the Director of Design or Director of Architecture, assists in executing a variety of design and technical tasks on projects of simple size and complexity.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

1.  Capable of reading existing construction drawings and accurately field checking architectural features on existing buildings.

2.  Possess/demonstrates the graphic ability to produce existing building as-builts and develop architectural building backgrounds.

3.  Possess/demonstrates the knowledge and ability to set-up project AutoCAD files per client or office standards.  Accurately produces construction documents based on direction from the lead Project Architect.

4.  Assists in preparation of schematics design documents.

5.  Assists with design tasks of limited scope (stairs, toilet room layouts, etc.) and with basic technical task (schedules, reflected ceiling plans, typical details, etc.).

6.  Possess/demonstrates the communication skills to work with all assigned project team members.  Follows direction from the lead Project Architect and advises of any questions.

EDUCATION:

1.  Currently Junior or Senior Status working towards a4 or 5- year Degree in Architectural Engineering or Architecture from an accredited University.

EXPERIENCE:

1.  Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation and PhotoShop preferred. 

2.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software applications.
