Architect - Exterior Restoration

LPE Engineering is currently seeking a senior level engineer or architect who has been involved with the building envelope restoration industry for at least 10 years and can ?hit the ground running.?  We are an engineering firm, specializing in renovation and restoration of building facades, roofs and structural systems and we are looking for a senior level project manager.  We typically take projects from conception/investigation through the completion of construction.  We are seeking to fill staff positions to primarily service our institutional clientele.  We offer a progressive, challenging, team-oriented work environment with a full benefit package emphasizing career growth and opportunity.

 

This position requires the following qualifications:

 

v Ten + years experience in repairs/renovations and investigations of building envelopes and structural systems.  PE or RA required.

v Knowledge of structural systems, and roof/fa?ade construction details from the early 20th century including landmark buildings.

v Ability to research and diagnose fa?ade, leakage and structural failures in a building envelope.

v Ability to lead and mentor junior team members.

v Strong organizational skills/detail oriented.

v Strong interpersonal skills, excelling in verbal as well as written communications with clients and contractors.

v Bachelor degree in Engineering, or Architecture.  Masters a plus.

 

The senior engineer will be capable of taking a restoration project from start to finish and will be able to independently handle the following the following project management skills:

 Interfacing with client to understand the nature of the problem, followed by conducting the field survey work and condition assessments to properly diagnose the problem.  This will sometimes include work from swing staging, scaffolding or personnel lifts.   Preparing reports and other documentation to describe the conditions, and recommend repair.  Reports include construction budgets for presentation to client.  Performing evaluations and calculations for structural analysis of existing conditions and proposed repairs/renovations. Preparation of roofing and waterproofing details. Preparation of construction documents, specifications and other bid documents for competitive bidding, and filing with appropriate governing agencies. Conducting of the bid process, including walking contractors through the site, answering RFI?s, and negotiating with successful bidders. Monitoring of the construction phase including, routine site observations (some from swing staging or scaffolding), preparation of change orders to reflect site conditions, and approval of payment requisitions.
