Building Products Industry Experience Mandatory!



 

This is a high-profile commercial flooring sales position focused on selling product through the architect and design community in the New York City area. The goal is to build relationships with architects and designers to generate specifications for our specialized commercial flooring products.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job is about making calls, getting in front of key people, providing technical information on our products, managing relationships, servicing accounts, coordinating/communicating project information with the flooring dealer sales representative in the territory & generally growing our business in the greater New York City area.  Once we have a foothold, the territory could expand beyond greater NYC to parts of Northern New Jersey and/or Connecticut. 

The successful candidate will:

- Secure appointments for presentations at all high profile A & D firms in the market.

- Provide detailed technical expertise on a wide range of flooring products.

- Consult and advise clients as to appropriate flooring material for each application, effectively detailing the features and benefits of each product.

- Be knowledgeable and aware of competitive products and be capable of positioning our products in an advantageous manner.

- Build strong relationships among clients within the A & D community based on value added service and performance.

- Participate in industry organizations such as IIDA and CSI to network and meet. 

- Work with CMD, Reed or Dodge reports to source leads on new project opportunities and track existing jobs out to bid.

- Effectively track pending projects and keep an up-to-date database of clients -- providing summary reports to sales management as requested.

- Provide organized, detailed updates of all activity and project work in Goldmine (CRM technology).

- Attend trade shows and sales meetings as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED:

Formal education, experience and training BS or BA helpful but not required.  Some experience in the architect and designer market, strong project management skills, and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).  Some contact management software experience (e.g. ACT, Sales Logix, Goldmine or MS CRM) would be helpful, though not required.
