Job Title: Assistant Architect

Description:

Parks & Recreation?s Capital division is responsible for redesigning and rebuilding the agency's more than 1700 sites throughout the city. In addition to parks and playgrounds, this includes bike paths, sea walls, outdoor pools, boardwalks, basketball courts, roller hockey rinks, baseball fields, and natural areas. Capital Projects is housed at the Olmsted Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens.

We seek experienced Assistant Architects to prepare basic design plans for architectural projects, including field inspections. Assist in developing project design criteria and establish budgets during the pre-construction phase. Prepare schematics, preliminary plans, final plans and specifications, cost estimates and estimates of quantities. Review and examine consultant contract drawings, specifications, construction estimates and submit reports. Provide guidance to insure projects meet the agency?s design standards. Track projects in the construction phase. Review shop drawings, prepare clarifications and resolve construction related problems.

Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in architecture from an accredited college and two years full-time paid experience in architectural work or;
A valid New York State Registration as an Architect and two years of full-time paid experience in architectural work.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of AutoCAD.
Excellent communications and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of PhotoShop, PowerPoint and 3D Rendering a plus.
A commitment to teamwork and an integrated approach to project delivery.
Enrolled in the Intern Development Program or comparable licensing study course.
Valid New York State driver license.
