CAD Designer/Detailer – Architectural/Structural

GENERAL FUNCTION: Provides design and drafting support in completion of company engineering and technical projects for architectural fabricated metal product lines.  Develops and administrates company CAD standards.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1) Work with engineering and sales personnel in support of project development for new product designs and applications, including, but not limited to;

a) Preparation of engineering sketches, shop and fabrication drawings and parts lists.

b) Initiating, obtaining, and evaluating quotations for materials, components and fabricated items.

c) Development of product application (Shop) drawings in compliance with customer design and specification requirements.

d) Details conceptual designs for fabrication of components. 

2) Provide general drafting/design support as required. Assist senior engineering personnel in development of product, equipment, tooling, and fixture designs.

3) Develop and maintain Company design and drafting standards and CAD systems. 

4) Perform other tasks as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1) Experience, Training and Job Qualifications

a) 5-10 years prior experience in architectural design or design of metal products for architectural/building applications, performing duties similar to those defined above.

b) Minimum 2-year technical degree in Architecture, Industrial Design, or other directly related field preferred.

c) Must have formal training/experience in Autocad. Must have demonstrated experience in 2D, 3D and solids modeling applications.

d) Must have ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists.

2) Personal Qualifications

a) Must have excellent verbal and written communications, and organization skills and ability to work well with a wide range of personnel.

b) Willingness and ability to abide by Company work, safety, attendance, and all other rules.

c) Well organized and self-motivated to handle multiple projects and a wide variety of duties with minimum supervision.

d) Must be highly detail oriented and able to develop consistent, accurate, thorough documentation of all work in accordance with Engineering Department procedures.

e) In all actions, demonstration of a commitment to perform quality work and meet all project schedule milestones, while building a positive relationship with coworkers, customers, and outside suppliers through professional conduct.

3) Physical Qualifications

a) Good physical health to be able to occasionally work on the production floor for extended periods as required in support above assigned areas of responsibility.

b) Ability to see with at least 20/40 corrected vision in the best eye.

c) Ability to hear telephones and conversations at normal volume

d) Ability to lift 15 pounds to shoulder height.
