CADD Technician III - Structural

Job Description:
The applicant must be at an advanced proficiency level in structural CADD drafting and detailing of transportation projects including bridges, tunnels, and transit stations. Must be able to perform non-routine and complex assignments involving planning and conducting complete projects of varied scope. Primary responsibilities include preparing structural drawings and assisting Engineering Tech I & II with training and mentoring responsibilities. Applicant will assist the structural engineers in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches. Must be proficient in CADD and may be knowledgeable in assist software such as GIS, 3D, Highway or Railroad design, Building design and Graphic Imaging. Responsibilities include gathering and interpreting engineering data from a variety of sources including as-built record drawings. Attends project and pre-construction meetings and is responsible for ensuring proper policies, procedures, specifications, and project specific CADD standards are followed.

Verifies accuracy of drawings, maintains project libraries, prepares detail and quantity calculations. Will be responsible for checking of detail and quantity calculations. Applicant must have experience with coordinating with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

Preference is given to applicants who have solid experience working as a structural engineering CADD technician for transportation agencies including BART, Caltrans, Caltrain, UPRR, Golden Gate Bridge District, Valley Transportation Authority, or similar agencies.




Job Qualifications:
One or 2 years technical school or Associate of Science plus 8 years CADD experience,
or

BS in drafting technology or similar non-engineering degree plus 4 years experience.

Caltrans or BART CADD experience is preferred
Railroad bridge CADD experience is preferred
AutoCad and Microstation experience is required
Knowledge of Steel and Concrete Design structural details is required
