Construction Project Manager-Retail Grocery

Safeway, one of the largest food and drug retailers in North America, has an immediate opening for a Construction Project Manager to support our Eastern Division, located in Lanham, Maryland.  Our stores are in Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  Qualifications include a college degree in Construction Management and/or Architecture or Engineering.  3 or more years construction and/or design experience in retail, preferably grocery required.  Must be able to analyze, negotiate, and resolve problems and have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff/management.  Should be able to coordinate multiple tasks with focus on time efficiency and budget awareness.  High degree of initiative with strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple high priority projects.  Working knowledge of MS Office-Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, and the able to learn other programs with ease.  Strong customer focus and the ability to work a flexible schedule and travel with the Eastern Division.  Position requires you to manage construction progress for minor and major remodels, expansions, and new construction to include establishing scope of work and supervise through completion.  Will maintain cost detail reports, estimate projects, issue contracts, approve contractor invoices, issue revisions to contracts, schedule equipment deliveries and project close outs.  Work with real estate and design departments on assigned projects, and meet with architects, engineers, government agencies and retail and marketing personnel.  Conduct on site inspections and meetings and review criteria information such as soil tests, surveys, contact documents and submittal.  Salary beginning range $49,100 - $60,400,commensurate with experience/qualifications.  Safeway offers an excellent benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental, pension, 401k, tuition reimbursement, stock purchase plan, employee savings plans, as well as vacation, sick and holiday paid leave.  For immediate consideration please email resume with cover letter stating salary requirements to eas.resumes@safeway.com .  Candidates we wish to interview will be contacted via phone and/or email.  All other applicants will remain in our active file for  60 days.  Please include your day time (mobile preferred) phone number on resume.  AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER M/F/D/V.
