IN-HOUSE ARCHITECTURAL DETAILING & DRAWING CONVENTIONS TRAINER

NJ based architectural firm seeks professional to fulfill position as an In-House Architectural Detailing & Drawing Conventions Trainer. The successful candidate will be responsible primarily for the delivery of architectural detailing & drawing conventions training that increases job knowledge & develops skills. The trainer will work with drafters, job captains, & project managers to continuously improve & enhance the quality of our architectural product. Courses will be a combination of in-house & purchased programs. The results expected are improved performance of learners consistent with & contributing to the attainment of company goals & objectives while improving each individual?s capability. This position requires an open minded person who has a creative approach to problem solving.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following.

? Confer with management, supervisors & employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training & to better understand changes in policies, procedures, business initiatives.?

? Coordinate training schedule with the hiring & training demands of the Firm.

? Formulate teaching outline & determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings & workshops.

? Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, & reference works.

? Conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, etc.

? Test trainees through skill based evaluations to measure progress & to evaluate effectiveness of training.

? Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.

? Assist employees with problems concerning 'how to' perform specific tasks related to their drafting position.

? Maintain trainee records.

? Develop strong relationship with all company departments to develop course materials & receive feedback.

? Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, &/or ability required.

Education &/or Experience:

Minimum of 15 years work experience & education in the field. ?Prior architectural drafting experience is required.

Language Skills:

Ability to read & interpret documents such as technical data, construction documents & procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports & correspondence. Ability to develop & proof training materials. Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations & before groups of employees.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems & deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills & Abilities:

? Knowledge of wood frame construction, prefab roof trusses & engineered wood products.

? Knowledge of current building codes & ADA handicap requirements.

? Ability to functions independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.

? Proficiency in Architectural Hand Drafting.

? Proficiency in AutoCAD.

? Comfortable communication with all levels of management & employees.

? Strong planning & organizational skills.

? Proven presentation & facilitation skills.
