IPS- Deputy Chief Engineer

Missions Systems/TSD/Integrated Platform Solution

Deputy Chief Engineer will be responsible for the following areas:
Support highly complex and fast paced engineering prototype and production projects from requirement development (SRR), design (PDR and CDR), first article testing (FAT), test readiness review (TRR), production readiness review (PRR), functional configuration audit (FCA), production, field support, and sustainment
Provide senior engineering support in monitoring and managing key subcontractors to ensure compliance with SOW, schedule, and costs
Prepare and/or review technical documentation and briefings for delivery and/or presentation to the customer
Brief customer on engineering and technical aspects of the project as required
Lead, develop, and review TSD and/or IPS processes to meet AS9100 requirements
Select and initiate new engineering tools (i.e. MCAD, ECAD, PLM, and SAP)
Develop and measure metrics to assure the quality and performance of IPS engineering teams
Assist IPS Chief Engineer in: IRAD development and management, new business development, managing and/or developing requests for proposals (RFP), Mechanical Engineering Center of Excellence, and annual capital program budget
Primary Configuration Control Board chairperson
Interview and select candidates for vacant engineering positions
Work with IPS Engineering Manager to develop, manage, and initiate training matrixes for current and new engineering employees

The following are the Basic Qualifications for the position:



Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in mechanical engineering or 15 years mechanical engineering experience


Ability to lead and manage a group of engineering professionals in a team environment, and to interact with diverse groups of customers, management, and colleagues


Excellent written and oral communication skills 


Ability to operate independently on White Papers and special studies


Extensive knowledge in systems engineering disciplines is required


Ability to effectively communicate with and brief upper levels of program and corporate management


Proficiency with MS Office


US citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
