Mechanical engineer

Position Description
On a daily basis, the incumbent supervises the design and drafting efforts of the Company. Additionally, works with systems engineering, the factory, program management, configuration control and quality to support the design, manufacturing and installation of communications systems involving troposcatter, microwave, HF and VHF radio through accurate and efficient and accurate documentation availability.
Designs, draws, reviews and checks projects in support of engineers involved with system designs and shelter design, and equipment designs. Assures that pre & post release processes are followed pursuant to applicable ISO procedures and Company policies and directives. Insures that documents meet high quality standards and are accurate.
Customarily works with minimal supervision & direction.

Key Duties


? Designs, draws, reviews and checks projects in support of engineers involved with system designs and shelter design, and equipment designs using AutoCad and SolidWorks 3D.

? Accountable for high degree of accuracy and timely completion of work.

? Key participant in design reviews.

? Reviews drawings and bills of material for accuracy prior to production release.

? Collaborate with a diverse team including project managers, developers, product operations specialists, field service engineers, customers and other cross-functional team members. Utilize effective communication, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions, both internally and externally.

? Interfaces with the factory to insure the product & system designs meet the client requirements.

? Provides project engineers with system design services, which includes generation of system block diagrams, system interconnect drawings, wire-run lists, assembly drawings & as built drawings.

? Provides input to mechanical engineers on packaging of cabinet mounted equipment, shelter mounted equipment, and design and deployment of microwave antenna systems.

? Monitors and assistance with material acquisition.

? Assures conformance with ISO standards and Company policies regarding drawings and documentation work.

? Involved in other related projects as assigned by management.

Required Experience / Skills


? Complete proficiency with AutoCad and SolidWorks 3D. Formal training on these products is highly desired.

? Strong time management and priority setting skills.

? Ability to plan, organize, display creativity, efficiency and quality project execution are essential.

? Prior supervisory experience required.

? Self-motivation and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

? Ability to adapt and be flexible within fast-paced dynamic environment.

? Must be very detail & quality oriented.

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills and decision making skills.



Educational Experience



? High School graduate or equivalent (required).

? Bachelors degree in mechanical design / engineering or a closely related area.

? At least ?10? years electronics / communications industry and / or military experience outside of school required.

? At least 5 years design and drafting specific experience.



Miscellaneous Requirements



? Must possess high degree of mechanical inclination and be familiar with the factory procedures and assembly methods.

? Must not have any medical limitations preventing the use & exposure to typical shop chemicals utilized in electronics manufacturing. Examples include, solder, flux, cleaning solutions, and paint.
