Organic Chemist

Local company is looking for a Organic chemist with a minimum B.S., prefer M.S. or Ph.D., in chemistry and/or experience in a commercial environmental laboratory.? Must have experience in analytical chemistry directly related to organic analyses using EPA methods to include SW-846 GC and GC/MS methods.? Experience must include sample extraction/cleanup, QA/QC procedures, data interpretation and data review and validation.? The majority of organic analytical experience must be in volatile organics by GC/MS using purge and trap, semi volatile analysis by GC/MS and pesticides/PCB analysis.

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience/expertise in analytical method development/validation, preparation of data packages, reports, and SOPs.? Ability to work independently in a high throughput, low turnaround time commercial laboratory environment.? Expertise in the interpretation of mass spectra and experience in troubleshooting a and resolving chromatography and instrumentation problems.

This position is a hands-on position in a busy commercial environmental lab.? The chemist will perform analyses of solid and liquid samples for organic compounds utilizing GC/MS and/or other approved techniques in compliance with specified analytical methods and QA/QC procedures.? Perform data interpretation, review analytical data, prepare reports/data packages.? Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of analytical instruments or other equipment.? Perform analytical method development/validation, prepare reports, write SOPs, and perform technical review of organic analytical data to assess data quality.? Though the emphasis of the position in on organic analysis the chemist may be called upon to assist in other areas of the laboratory as well.? these areas might include wet chemistry, inorganics, customer service, etc.
