RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECT ? Manager of Design Services

Upscale post & beam design/build firm, specializing in residential and small commercial projects seeks experienced, career-oriented Architect (license not required), to head up our Design Services Department with a talented staff of junior architects and CADD drafters.

Job Requirements

Candidates must have a minimum of five years residential architectural experience in an architectural firm, construction company or equivalent, with strong residential design background and hand-drafting/design and hands-on AutoCAD skills. Job site and construction experience a plus. Candidate should have excellent communication skills, including strong presentation abilities.

Miscellaneous Qualifications: Candidates must be systems-oriented, knowledgeable of CADD networks, general architectural systems and their management, have good interpersonal skills and the ability to meet and effectively communicate with clients, employees, builders and building officials. Background in home building, residential codes and kitchen and bath layout, with 20/20 a major plus. Should have a stable career background, and must be highly computer and Internet literate.

Work Schedule: As day-to-day manager of the Design Services Department, the work schedule will be that which is required to fulfill managerial and client responsibilities in a timely fashion. It is the nature of the business that some client meetings occur in the early evenings and on Saturdays.

Responsibility for the following:

a.) Meeting with clients, in-house (mostly), to develop project concepts, and to assist sales from a technical perspective. Principal technical interface with builders, building officials, sales and manufacturing personnel.

b.) Assigning, coordinating and organizing the production of architectural drawings and shop details for client jobs. This includes the overall responsibility for the staffing and management of the eight person Design Services Department, plus coordination of efforts with outside consulting engineers and others performing contract work.

c.) Overall responsibility for all CADD and drafting work for architectural details, architectural sets, assembly drawings, promotional drawings and shop drawing. Maintaining and updating all technical CADD hardware and software. Developing and maintaining department systems, organization, and assuring the conformance of the department with Company procedures and policies relating to record keeping, etc.
