Senior Interior Design Manager

Marriott International, Inc., named by Fortune Magazine as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work for in America", has an immediate opportunity for a Sr. Interior Design Manager in the Architecture & Construction Department at Marriott Corporate Headquarters. This senior position reporting to the Design Director will be responsible for developing, defining and managing the interior design process and project management for the Marriott Full Service brands of Hotels, Resorts, and Suites.  We are looking for a Sr. Interior Designer with outstanding project management and interior architecture skills, who also possess solid communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.

 

Duties include:

 

?  Develop, define and manage the complete design and documentation package for interior design for new construction, conversion projects and/or renovation of existing facilities commensurate with the Marriott image of excellence in quality of design and aesthetic appeal.  98% of new builds are custom design packages.

 

?  Develop, manage, influence, and coordinate the complete interior concept with the architectural design under the direction of the Design Director.

 

?  Manage project workload as determined by Design Director in support of brand or business unit growth goals.

 

?  Direct the design and project management for brands supported, including standard and custom designed facilities.

 

?  Participate in the early project assessment and planning phases to include project theming, concept unit planning and FF&E budgeting with the procurement group.

 

?  Pre-screen design consultants for consideration from the top design firms, and award contracts. 

 

?  Solicit proposal and negotiate services to be provided.  Select Interior Design Consultants for the development of Interior Design concepts for the full service brands.

 

?  Requires up to 40% travel in US and Canada.

 

Qualifications:

? Four year degree from an accredited College of Interior Design.

? Minimum twelve years (12) of design experience (some hospitality required).

? Strong leadership skills and project management skills.

? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

? Strong organizational skills and multi-task oriented.

? Strong people management skills.

? Strong background in interior architecture and FF&E.

? Strong comprehension of the core design packages and product knowledge.

? Ability to lead and motivate a team.

? Strong ability to negotiate contracts with consultants and manage the progress of their work.

? Strong presentation skills.
