Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description: Our Detroit Building Programs group is searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team.  In this position, the selected candidate will be responsible for:
Preparing mechanical systems drawings, specifications and construction documents for commercial and industrial building projects, especially pharmaceutical
Acting as lead engineer coordinating design activities with multiple disciplines to ensure quality control
Coordinating technical and administrative activities with those of other disciplines and other departments in the Company participating in a project
As a Project Engineer, serving as a technical specialist, staff advisor and consultant to the mechanical engineering specialty, for facilities related projects, equipment, or program function
As a Staff Engineer, carrying out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved mechanical engineering techniques or procedures to create new or refined equipment, materials, processes or methods
Marketing the firm’s capabilities, within the mechanical engineering specialty, to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients
Preparing proposals for potential projects
Participating in the selection of design teams, and sub-consultants, and in the negotiations of fees and subcontractors
Conducting constructability reviews or assisting in the design/planning/review of other mechanical engineering projects not assigned to the incumbent
Supervising mechanical engineering and support personnel: evaluating performance; assigning and scheduling work; establishing project priorities and standards; making recommendations on hiring, firing and promotions; providing technical support of project work
Assisting the Department/Division Manager in the preparation of the department/division budget and policy implementation
Holding membership in professional associations and participates on company committees
Performing other duties assigned

Job Requirements:

BS in Mechanical Engineering
PE Registration in Michigan
10 years of experience in an A/E firm with projects pertaining to office, laboratory, vivariums, clean rooms, BSL/ABSL room, specialty equipment and cGMP process/production areas 
AutoCad 2004 proficient
Must have pharmaceutical experience
Familiarity with the following systems: Water systems including WFI, USP, DI, RO and animal drinking water; HVAC including tight control of temperature, humidity and pressure; Specialty gasses piped systems supplied by cylinder or housed systems; Central utilities such as steam and chilled water;  Filtration including supply, exhaust and HEPA; Fume hoods, Bio Safety cabinets and Laminar flow hoods; Direct digital controls and building management systems; Environmental monitoring and fire suppression LEED sustainable design requirements; Commissioning and validation 
Understanding of National and Local Codes related to building design
Flexibility with the desire to work in a fast paced environment
