OVERVIEW:


 


The Engineering group is a client facing, customer service driven group that delivers a large range of services including market data systems design/architecture, integration, capacity planning, pre-sales planning, custom solutions and technical training.  This position within the Engineering group focuses on building relationships with clients while delivering quality high-level customer service in a demanding environment.


 


GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


 


·  Provide technical leadership directly and indirectly throughout Reuters.


·  Network Application Support providing network and application analysis, problem management and project support for Reuter’s products. Primary focus on network messaging protocols and Routing, Switching, Internet-access, firewalls, and related technologies.


·  Client support.  Resolve market data infrastructure issues that cause customer problems and dissatisfaction.  Take personal ownership to deliver customer satisfaction.  Deliver high quality and timely work.  Consistently delivers on commitments.  Raise potential implementation issues, offering solutions where possible.


·  Provide quality consulting services to clients and prospects that facilitate the integration of Reuter’s data into their open system environment and platforms.


·  Provide technical training/mentoring to other Engineers and Clients.


·  Review and enhance proposals, SOW's (Statements of Work), RFI's and RFP's


·  Design and integrate open system network architectures.


·  Stay abreast of new technology and assess its impact on Reuter’s products and client site configurations.  Communicate implications to appropriate departments within PSG.


·  Maintain a high level of technical and product expertise through training classes and performing product release functions.


·  Ensure compliance with Reuter’s policies and guidelines.


·  Perform other tasks as required.


 


JOB SPECIFICATIONS - REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION:


·  B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent, M.S. advantage, or minimum five years work experience in an information and networking systems discipline, coupled with at least three years of experience with real-time financial market data systems.


·  Extensive experience interfacing with clients…evidenced in excellent communication and client-facing skills.


·  Expert level knowledge of Reuters/TIBCO product lines along with knowledge of the infrastructure supporting these products.


·  Experience supporting clients in the financial information industry with the ability to anticipate the technical and product needs of Reuters clients.


 


 


INDUSTRY TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:


 


·  Strong knowledge of Enterprise Servers including Solaris, Windows XP/2003, RedHat Linux A.S 2.1+,3.0


·  Detailed understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, IP multicast)


·  Working knowledge of network hardware including switches routers and firewalls


·  Understanding of the underlying hardware in a workstation and the ability to install and remove hardware components.


·  Knowledge of wide area networks and telecommunications (Frame Relay, ATM, T-1).


·  Awareness of programming languages (Java, C++, HTML, PERL, XML, C Shell, Kornshell etc.).


·  Experience in banking or brokerage industries and/or Fixed Income knowledge.


·  Knowledge of non-Reuters real-time network delivered stock market data systems (Bloomberg, Moneyline, ILX, ADP, CQG).


·  Relational Database (Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft, SQL) installation, daily maintenance knowledge.  The ability to write basic database maintenance scripts.


·  Web/HTTP Servers, Java servlet management.


·  Familiarity with advanced programming concepts such as messaging, server development, and multi-threaded development


 


REUTERS TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:


 


·  Understanding and knowledge of Open Systems Technology (RMDS, classic TIBCO, TRIARCH) on a Senior Engineering level


·  Understanding and knowledge of Reuters Data Feed (RDF) on a Senior Engineering level.


·  Understanding and knowledge of data content.


·  In depth understanding of TIBCO Rendezvous


·  Understanding of TIBCO Enterprise Solution products
