Administrative Assistant III

Provides administrative and secretarial support for the Departmental Vice President, and office operation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Takes dictation and transcribes stenographic notes of correspondence, reports and conferences. Prepares and types documents in rough and final form, including correspondence, forms, reports, charts and graphs. Maintains complete confidentiality regarding departmental/company activities. Ensures competency of work from the standpoint of grammar, composition and format. Prepares, establishes and maintains all files and records of appropriate reports, correspondences, documents, forms and other materials and information relevant to Department Operation. Processes purchase orders for various supplies and equipment. Maintains schedule, reconciles expense reports, and prepares monthly status reports. Make travel arrangements. Places, accepts and screens telephone calls and refers calls to others as appropriate. Contacts managerial and staff personnel for collection of data, statistics and reports. Performs follow-up on reports or special assignments. May compose replies based on organizational practice, policies, and procedures at the direction of the supervisor. Receives, opens and distributes incoming mail and documents. Performs duties as assigned, always presenting oneself as a credit to HARRAH?S and encouraging others to do the same. Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.






High school graduate required, business school preferred. Must have the ability to type 80 wpm and perform shorthand of 90 wpm. Must possess strong communication skills. Five years of secretarial experience with knowledge of Business English, Spelling and office procedures required. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required; Powerpoint and Internet usage a plus. Must have the ability to be self-directed in clerical projects. Must be able to handle multiple tasks to change with flexibility. Attention to detail and follow through is required. Must take initiative when responding to inquiries or working on projects. Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team. Must present a well-groomed appearance.




PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and carry up to 5 pounds. Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area. Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment, including a 10 key adding machine, PC computers, fax machine and photocopier. Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
