Asst Mgr, Marketing

The Assistant Marketing Manager works under general direction from Marketing management to plan and execute short- and long-term marketing strategies and related projects to retain and grow customers and/or assigned business segment, driving revenues and profits for OfficeMax.  This position manages the entire scope of assigned research projects, providing guidance to Marketing Specialists. Projects span a broad range of marketing activities including newspaper advertising, direct mail, in-store events, promotions and web marketing.  This is a lead level marketing professional position. Position Responsibilities
Work in conjunction with internal and external resources to plan and create marketing materials to support a wide-range of promotions, campaigns and events, requiring understanding of OfficeMax operations and the assigned business segment. 
Develop communications for and with the field, i.e., stores, sales force, telesales, to ensure understanding and effectiveness of marketing programs.  Frequently interact with management in other areas in Marketing and throughout the business. May be assigned to work on cross-functional teams with other Marketing areas, depending on the nature and scope of the project.
Determine effectiveness of marketing campaigns by tracking and analyzing results. Based on these results, develop presentations to recommend changes and new methodologies to improve Return on Investment, customer retention/growth and understanding within all areas of the company.
Review market trends, consumer behavior and industry activity to more effectively market to the OfficeMax customer base, both retail and/or contract.
Provide project leadership to Marketing Specialists, functioning as mentor and/or project lead on assigned projects.  Perform as back-up to the manager as required.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum of six years marketing or related experience
Developed business acumen, with strong understanding of OfficeMax operations
Demonstrated creative, analytical and detail-oriented skills
Ability to take initiative, work under general direction and lead Marketing Specialists
Developed verbal/written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment
