Broadcast Operator

DIRECTV, the nation’s leading and fastest growing digital television service provider is looking for a talented, energetic and motivated Broadcast Operator to join their Broadcast Center in Los Angeles, CA.

 

Responsibilities include following established procedures.  The ideal candidate will have proficient use of electronic measuring instruments and computer control systems, monitor signals on assigned channels being transmitted to DIRECTV subscribers. Insert programming material into programs being broadcast through live switching. Assist supervisor in resolving issues with incoming/outgoing signals. Reconcile playlists to channel mapping and program guides and communicates potential discrepancies to management. Monitor and troubleshoot automated playback control systems.






At least two years broadcast operations experience with satellite and fiber transmission. Must have solid experience monitoring simultaneously-occurring multiple events being broadcast live that includes quickly identifying problems and inserting scheduled promotional material as well as utilizing complex electronic measurement and test instruments. Technical training and/or certification in broadcasting technologies/systems is required and a technically oriented degree is preferred.  The ideal candidate must be able to work various shifts, overtime and holidays in a 24x7 operating environment.
