Primary Responsibility:

 

1)Oversight of all research, planning, and implementation activities related to the Museum?s temporary and permanent collection-based exhibitions

2)  Oversight of the Permanent Collection, including loan practices, collections care and management, planned growth, and donor cultivation

3)  Supervision of all collections and exhibitions-related staff, including curatorial, conservation, design and installation, and registration

 

Duties and ResposibilitiesWorking closely with the Executive Director, develop and implement a curatorial programmatic vision and strategic plan in accordance with MAPR?s mission that encompasses all aspects of the Museum?s collecting and exhibition programs Establish and monitor the effectiveness of all collections and exhibitions programs and staff Identify, recruit, lead, motivate, and retain staff; and nurture a dynamic team As a member of the Museum?s management team, actively participate in strategic decision making and planning

 

Requirements

 PH.D with a concentration in a discipline related to an area of the museums specialization with a strong emphasis in Latin American modern art and knowlegde of art from the Caribbean and Puerto Rico. Minimum five years of experience working in a museum context organizing exhibitions and a record of scholarly publications.  Must have a demonstrated knowledge of curatorial and museum practices. Demonstrated Supervisory skills. Fully bilingual (English/Spanish). Must be able to relocate to Puerto Rico.
