Commodity Group Manager
The mission for the Commodity Group Manager is the successful management of a professional team of commodity managers including full reporting and financial responsibilities. Commodity Group Manager will be responsible for the development/execution of the commodity strategy as defined by the key commodity responsibilities and fostering a proactive environment that promotes cross-functional support with respective business units while driving cost productivity across the company.
-Leads and directs a group of professional commodity managers including; development and tracking of group metrics; resource allocation and development.
-Drives group financial goals, monitor and reporting of results.
-Performs the functions of international market analysis, internal Siemens demand analysis, global demand pooling, supplier selection, and negotiation of price, terms and conditions, to maximize contribution to operating profit and business objectives.
- Completes supplier analysis in order to acquire the best suppliers and to guarantee an optimum supply chain; assists in the coordination of the annual supplier evaluation process and executes formal supplier development plans.
- Maintains regular contact with internal/external interface partners to recognize developments and exert influence accordingly.
- Completes complex reports of defined information and figures to make results transparent and controls purchasing activities on a results-oriented basis.
- Assists in the development of communication and deployment of procurement strategies.
- Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.
-Commodity Group Manager also maintains direct accountability/management responsibilities for the Transformer/Winding Commodity.
Education: BS in Business Administration required, MBA preferred
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 6 + years in a strategic sourcing in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the sourcing of OEM and/or electronic products or similar products would be a plus.
2. Minimum of 2 years prior management experience leading a professional team of commodity managers including full reporting and financial responsibilities. This role will be responsible for an entire commodity group (OEM, electronic and electro mechanicals.)
3. CPM- Certified Procurement Manager preferred and CPIM Certified Procurement and Inventory Manager preferred
4. Demonstrated and proven ability to develop and sell value propositions.
5. Proficient in MS office; including Excel and MS Project
6. Experience with SAP (not a requirement but a plus)
7. Excellent ability to lead cross-functional teams is a must
8. Experience in sourcing in Asia/Mexico a definite plus
Job Family Responsibilities: Manages the flow and/or purchase of materials, equipment, goods, supplies, etc., from suppliers. Communicates and coordinates with suppliers and internal customers regarding most complex deviations/changes of schedules and requirement; contacts suppliers to expedite deliveries. Resolves the most complex discrepancies between purchase, receiving, and payment documentation. Negotiates the most complex contracts for goods, services, supplies, equipment, etc. Monitors the most complex contractual obligations for compliance. Leads research and recommends suppliers. Optimizes supplier base through supplier selection, evaluation, performance management and consolidation for specific commodities.
Key Responsibilities: Successfully defines work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness. Area of responsibility has moderate strategic impact. Develops and manages departmental budgets and/or business plans for a large department or business unit or division. Has substantial latitude to develop policies/programs for area of responsibility or products and to forecast their impact; Analyzes effectiveness of policies/products and establishes future direction for functional policies and programs or products that affect company as a whole; Aligns policies/products and development efforts with company strategies. Identifies resource needs with significant influence on approval of identified needs. Troubleshoots and resolves most complex problems within multi-departments and/or cross-functional areas. Determines organizational structures and supervisory relationship. Responsible for overall success of function or project within multi-departments and/or cross-functional areas.
Education: Typically Bachelors Degree or advanced degree.
Knowledge and Experience: Demonstrates and applies advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for area managed and good knowledge of other areas in the company and how they interact. Demonstrates full understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, and performance management. Typically 10+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
Direction of Others: Typically manages multiple exempt-level employees and/or other managers.
Key Working Relationships: Within function, domestic (possibly world wide) inter-organizational and external contacts.
