This position is to support the creation and maintenance of the FR&M daily news service. The Data Managers in this group will support the daily updating of news material covering developments from the SEC, FASB, GASB, AICPA, PCAOB etc. for publication on Checkpoint. There is a market need for increased news coverage in this area due to significant changes in guidance due to Sarbanes-Oxley and other factors. The news service will provide our customers with information that they need quickly and will enhance our competitive edge. Part of the data manager?s prime responsibility will be the successful daily processing of a large amount of information, ensuring proper linking, searchability, product integration and presentation.

 

The FR&M News data manager is primarily responsible for the daily processing, proper construction, linking and integration of news material on Checkpoint.

 

1. Assists in ensuring data is properly tagged allowing proper linking and presentation.

2. Determines and verifies SGML tagging according to DTD specifications.

3. Understands and resolves parsing and composition errors.

4. Reads, organizes, compiles and updates citation information.

5. Assists in maintaining the integrity and completeness of master and product databases for editorial and primary source materials.

6. Assists in the delivery of final product through delivery of electronic files for all media.

7. Assists in the conversion of new data to SGML or existing SGML data to an enhanced DTD.

8. Assists in the updating of primary law material to reflect all official changes.

9. Assists in the preparation of finding aids.

10. Responsible for quality assurance through all steps of production.
QualificationsBS Degree in Journalism or English.College-level grammar and accurate punctuation skills a must. Able to work in a fast paced environment and meet tight deadlines. Must be computer literate, possess strong organizational skills and great attention to details.
