Director, Design - Kids, Levi Strauss Signature

Direct, manage and influence category/segment apparel design teams with emphasis on the creative process. Provide concept direction, vision and critical evaluation of apparel philosophy and strategies affecting brand image, product excellence and consumer awareness. In partnership with the Creative Director and peer directors across the product creation teams, develop plans, strategies and goals which maximize market potential and ensure business objectives are met. Unify and maintain continuity among apparel design teams, and advocate design integrity within the business context.? Prepare reports and provide management with critical information as indicated. Make presentations as required.? Be an advocate for design department through presentations and speeches that educate and inspire both internally and externally.? Communicate design philosophy.? Participate in trade shows, sales meetings and industry conventions to stay abreast of new technologies and trends.

Bachelor's or advanced degree in specific related design discipline.? Requires 10+ years related experience with a minimum of five years as a senior/lead designer in a corporate setting or design firm.? An additional two years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements.? Creative visionary who demonstrates the highest creative project management skills. Has thorough understanding of the business and ability to create leading edge design to grow and develop the business. Innovative conceptual thinker, consistently offering imaginative suggestions for improving brand direction.? Knowledge of technical drawing/drafting. Understanding of various manufacturing processes as they relate to the design discipline. Comprehensive understanding of the appropriate construction techniques. Ability to apply typical design skills, including ideation, form, color, space, scale and visual presentation development. Demonstrate understanding and application of an organized design process methodology. Computer literate using appropriate design programs of the specific design discipline. Comprehensive understanding of Levi's presence in relation to the state-of-the-art creative designing and it's community. Demonstrate ability to contribute to strategic business plans and budgets. Demonstrated strong people management skills with special ability to lead and direct a team to accomplish a common vision and goal. Ability to influence and defend design choices. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work across the different disciplines with a healthy appreciation for the contributions of others. Presentation and public speaking skills. Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a diverse group. Sensitive to differing cultures, customs, trends, future state of design, business practices. Team oriented.? 20% DOMESTIC TRAVEL REQUIRED.
