Established in 1941, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an international professional association of more than 120,000 members with global headquarters in Altamonte Springs, Fla., United States. Throughout the world, The IIA is recognized as the internal audit profession?s leader in certification, education, research, and technological guidance.
SUMMARY
The editor will be responsible for ensuring that assigned materials are written, edited, and published on time and within budget while maintaining the highest editorial standards. Knowledge of AP style; strong writing, editing, interviewing, and proofreading skills; and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential. The ability to work collaboratively with IIA staff, volunteers, and freelance writers is critical.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Edit and proofread assigned materials from volunteers, freelance writers, and staff.
Coordinate with volunteers and staff on content lineup for online newsletters.
Contribute ideas, conduct research and interviews, and write compelling content for various IIA publications.
Support the written communication needs of the Educational Materials department.
Assist in preparation of relevant materials for The IIA?s Communications Advisory Committee.
Attend IIA functions as necessary to report and network with members, as well as to ensure professional representation of The IIA.
Collaborate with supervisor, editorial and other IIA staff, and volunteer liaisons, where applicable, to keep abreast of professional issues and develop ideas regarding editorial content.
Work with supervisor on writers? guidelines, reader surveys, and other specials projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, preferably in communications, English, or journalism. Three to five years experience in magazine, newsletter, online publishing, business, or nonfiction writing, substantive and copy editing is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience with an international organization would be an asset to The IIA and its global goals.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
English-language fluency is required. Candidate should have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Multiple language ability is an asset in any role with The IIA.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Previous experience with online publishing is a plus. Intermediate or higher ability to work in a computerized environment with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Internet-based research tools is necessary.

Attention to detail.
