International Special Attractions, Ltd. (ISA) is an international theatrical and attractions production company specializing in cross-cultural performing arts, special events, and exhibit attractions across North America and within China.? With a 20+ year history of presenting the Incredible! Acrobats of China in North America (including engagements on Broadway, and numerous countries around the world) and over a decade of experience in presenting international stage talent in Asia, ISA is the largest organization with the deepest history in the field of cultural arts and exhibition presentation in the US and China.
?
ISA has an opening for an experienced Exhibition Production Assistant to work in a very exciting, high-energy, and unique project environment in Nashville, Tennessee.?
?
For a sixth year, in conjunction with the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, ISA will create and present the attraction, 'ICE!'? . . . A holiday exhibit created out of two-million pounds of ice carved into the icons of Christmas.? The Production Assistant will work under the mentorship of one of ISA's experienced Associate Producers to assist in fulfilling the needs of this project.
?
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn and be an integral part of a large scale exhibit and attraction.? The tasks involved with this position are similar to the tasks involved with a Production Assistant in film/television, live stage production, theatre productions or large-scale exhibitions.? These tasks include: being an errand driver, a research assistant (to source needed materials), a problem solver (to track shipments or help generate solutions to issues that may arise), a message carrier, and assistant to the Technical Director?to interface with the many vendors involved in the project.? A reliable vehicle and clean driving record is a must.? Experience in driving 15-passenger vans and light duty trucks is a plus.? The job pays on the basis of $100/day as an independent contractor.?
?
In the past, independent contractors filling this position have largely come from the theater industry.? ISA is now opening its search field to include not only persons familiar with live stage production (sets, scenery, theatrical lighting, show load-in, performance, and load-out), but also the exhibition and touring attraction industries.? Previous experience working on the production team for exhibitions and special attractions, event planning, concerts, fairs, and festivals is preferred.? A positive personality, good mechanical aptitude,?and the ability to easily function in a diverse cultural environment are requirements.
?
As we are in the entertainment industry, at times work days will be very long, and for the period from October 10 to November 20 there will be no days off.? During the operational period of the show from November 21 thru the close of the attraction (early January) time off may be limited to part-days occasionally during the week. Furthermore, as this is an attraction of carved and sculpted ice displays, extensive work on a daily basis may take place in the sub-freezing environment of the exhibition hall.
?
This job is seasonal, with work initiating in Mid-September and continuing though mid-January of 2007.? This is our sixth year with this production on a multi-year contract with our client. Your excellent performance this year will qualify you for priority consideration for additional ISA projects and retention again in the fall of 2007 with this event.??Persons in the past who have started at this level with ISA have over the years become full time Technical Directors, Project Managers and Associate Producers of our international shows and events.?
