Flash Developer

Seattle based PopCap Games is looking for an expert Flash ActionScript developer for both new game development and for porting of existing ActiveX games to Flash.  As with all developers entrusted to work on core PopCap properties, the candidate must have a strong sense of game design, be passionate and self-driven, and be eager to make independent contributions outside their 'official job description'.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for working in conjunction with an artist and a producer to port existing games to Flash as precisely as possible, and to prototype and implement new games as applicable.  The candidate does not, however, need to be a ?Flash Artist?.

 

Major Job Duties:

Create development strategy for building Flash versions of PopCap games, including future games and games currently in development.

Work closely with producer, artist, and original game team to build small, tight Flash versions of games that retain the feel and vision of the ?Deluxe? downloadable versions.

Provide technical consulting and relevant documentation for projects.

 

Required Experience and Skills:

?  2+ years experience with Macromedia Flash ActionScript 1-2, with direct experience in Flash optimization for speed and size.

?  Good understanding of issues related to Flash design for website usage (e.g. graphic optimization and bandwidth limitations) .

?  Ability to read and understand C++ code.

?  Experience with HTML, DHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

?  Needs to be detail-oriented and understand game and interface design.

 

Bonus points for:

?  Understanding of internationalization and localization requirements.

?  Experience with PHP.

?  Some art and animation skills.
