Graphic Design Specialist

McGraw-Hill Construction is seeking a Graphic Design Specialist to support McGraw-Hill Construction Sales by fulfilling advertising commitments that require the design and production of print and electronic media. These duties cover ENR, Architectural Record and MHC Product News, Sweets Directory as well as reprints and AR on the web.


Other responsibilities will include:


Design and produce marketing materials including new advertising products and promotional collateral.

Design and produce Sweets catalogs conforming to Sweets and client specifications

Help gather and evaluate information on new technology and recommend the acquisition of equipment and software necessary for art production.

Troubleshoot and identify client supplied material, ready this material for production, print and online publishing.

Support the McGraw-Hill Construction Art Director staff.

Maintain a high level of expertise in desktop publishing technology as it applies to MHC by continuously expanding computer skills and knowledge while keeping abreast of the latest developments and advancements.

Monitor the accuracy and quality of work provided by vendors.

Work closely with internal Editorial/Quality Control Department


 

Formal graphic arts training and experience is fundamental to the position. This includes proven design ability and knowledge of all aspects of print and electronic graphics, typography, photography and production.Proficiency in: QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, MS Office and FlightCheck is essential. Ability to quickly master new technologies icluding Quark DMS and FileMaker Pro.Thorough knowledge of print and prepress processes and capabilities.Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively to ensure products are completed to the specifications of the publications and clients.
