Job Description:
What it is:
RMG Connect, a division of JWT, is seeking a Lead Copywriter to write, edit, proofread, and publish market-leading, expert-level copy for websites, marketing campaigns, promotional materials, and ad hoc assignments. In addition, the Lead Copywriter will lead and mentor the Copywriting team.
What you do:
Leadership
* Ensure effective implementation and management of Copywriting processes.
* Manage and mentor Copywriting team members.
* Exemplify writing and usability best practices, and demonstrate subject matter expertise within project teams.
* Make recommendations for additional content, edits to content, and removal of content based on user needs and as appropriate in the project.
* Coordinate tasks, milestones, and deadlines with the project manager or account director.
* Participate in the estimating, planning and scheduling to ensure the timely completion of content tasks.
Creative Voice & Vision
* Explicitly incorporate brand messaging, business goals, and audience needs into content strategies when required.
* Champion the client's brand and set voice/tone with an eye on both present and future business goals, user needs, and strategic direction.
* Collaborate with the project team to brainstorm creative concepts that consistently prove innovative thinking.
Provocative Communication
* Translate concepts and strategies into striking, engaging copy.
* Write clean, proficient copy that takes creative product from innovative to market-leading.
* Channel brand message from client to audience with meaning, precision, and consistency.
Relationship Building
* Build trust, partnership, and creative value with clients by understanding their core competencies and business objectives and knowing their brand and market position.
* Engage team members in project discussions, brainstorming, and Q&A sessions.
* Exercise good judgment and decision making skills, and understand when to escalate issues.
* Seek honest, constructive feedback from project team members and provide the same.
Quality Control
* Be accountable for meeting deadlines, and understand who to talk to-and when-about potential impacts to you, and to the project.
* Proofread all copy.
* Facilitate copy reviews with the client, and make editorial recommendations based feedback.
* Confirm that all copy has gone through the proper review channels before being published.
What you need:
* Previous management experience and strong leadership skills.
* 7+ years of professional writing experience.
* 4-year degree in Marketing, Business, English, Journalism, or related field.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Explorer; Lotus Notes preferred
* Ability to think on your feet and expertly manage your time
* Adaptability, creativity, and a commitment to excellence
