Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Job Purpose: Edit and assemble news stories for cut-ins, newscasts and other programming.
*Communicate in timely manner with show producers to develop pre-pro, cold opens and graphics video.
*Record microwave and satellite truck video feeds as needed.
*Prepare pre-pro, voice track, tease, edit and archive tapes.
*Help maintain video archive system.
*Help edit and maintain super save tapes.
*Perform other related duties that insure high quality news coverage as assigned.
*Work various shifts as needed (overnights, days, and late evenings on weekdays and/or weekends).
*Understand and practice ethical journalism.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:

*High School education
*1 year minimum experience editing with an emphasis in journalism
*Basic knowledge of Grass Valley News Edit or other non-linear editing systems as well as analog tape-to-tape editing.

Eligibility Requirements:

*Must be willing to work at the station in San Diego location.
*Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation
*Must be 18 years or greater
*Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
*Must have ability to work any of a 24x7 shift

Desired:
*College or vocational school education in broadcast communications,
journalism preferred.
*Team player who is flexible
*Highly motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
*Displays a positive work ethic and can work under tight deadlines
*High degree of integrity and professionalism
*Up to date on and interested in current news events

*Ability to work well and communicate with others
