Print Production Coordinator

Description: Wolters Kluwer Health seeks a Print Production Coordinator at our offices in Center City Philadelphia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the manufacturing process for an assigned list of journals; Monitor quality and timeliness of the production of journals; Gather information and provide reports as requested; For an assigned list of journals, will create an imposition sheet for the printer using an editorial and advertising lineup, including paid advertising and marketing promotional materials; create ad dummies for the compositor; provide journal specifications and be the main contact with the printer; also follow up on print quantities and mailing instructions. Monitor quality and consistency of printed issues; and track manufacturing deadlines. Troubleshoot problems with printers, keep abreast of industry's technology, and seek out cost-effective, time-efficient methods of producing journals.

Responsibilities:

20% For assigned list of journals, monitor and ensure standards of quality of printing and binding, monitor manufacturing dates, costs, keep abreast of technology and explore how it can enhance current methods of print production.

40% Coordinate with printer on all scheduling aspects of the manufacturing process. Let the printer know when an issue has been "released" from the digital composition department to the printer, when outstanding materials are due, communicate print quantities, provide feedback regarding quality and timeliness of printed issues, and provide special mailing instructions.

40% Create impositions and ad dummies for the printer: Accomplished by imposing the editorial lineup and the classified and paid advertising schedules.

Qualifications:
4-year college degree preferred or equivalent combination of relevant experience
Knowledge of print and book/ journal production industry is required.
3 to 5 years experience in journal or book manufacturing.
Previous experience creating journal impositions and journal page dummies.
Maintain direct interaction with printer customer service representatives.
Experience working with professionals at various levels.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure .
Computer skills -- Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel spreadsheets.
Experience using Adobe, Quark and Photoshop are a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to problem solve and interact diplomatically with professional contacts at all levels.
Reliability, attention to detail, and follow-up essential.
