Sr Designer/Project Designer

Fisher-Price Character Brands is located in bustling downtown Manhattan. Our offices cover two floors in the Barnes & Noble Building on 6th Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets. This area is also known as the Chelsea District or the Toy District and is the home of the International Toy Fair.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Work with the Specials design team on toys for all brands.
Brainstorm unique and creative plastic and plush toy concepts in line with FPB strategy and within licensor parameters.
Create sketches, renderings, prototypes of toys.
Brainstorm creative use of mechanisms in toys
Ability to conceptualize and create play patterns for toys
Work closely with Marketing and Engineering throughout entire product development process.
Prepare cost packages with marketing and engineering for clear product definition to Hong Kong.
Manage daily correspondence with Hong Kong.
Prepare for and present products at management presentations.
Some travel required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors in Industrial Design or Fine Arts with 3-7 years toy design experience required (pre-school toy design experience highly preferred).
Experience with soft goods highly preferred.
Experience with licensed product is highly preferred.

SKILLS:
Skill in brainstorming and ideation with strong sketching and rendering skills.
Knowledge of basic molding and assembly techniques commonly used in the toy industry.
Ability to generate fully dimensioned control drawings.
Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop; Vellum a plus
Ability to handle a high volume of work while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Self-starter with a proactive approach to work and the ability to work independently.
Basic model making skills a plus.
Basic sewing skills with preliminary pattern making experience a plus.
