Sr Package Designer

The Senior Designer supports the overall efforts of the Creative Team and is responsible for combining creative solutions with solid brand strategy to deliver on- target concepts within timelines and parameters. This position reports to the Design Director, Package Design.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Provides creative solutions with solid brand strategy to deliver on-target concepts within timelines and parameters.
? Presents Creative to Client and Senior Management in a clear, concise and direct manner.
? Manages project organization for all project binders and archival of design solutions and illustrations.
? Maintains thorough knowledge of packaging regulations and the implications on design decisions.
? Directs outside vendors (illustrators, hand lettering etc).
? Assists Design Directors in the completion of work in order to meet deadlines.
? Directs the production for all assigned design initiatives
? Reviews all first-run production component samples for new designs with Design Director, Production Manager and Project Manager to benchmark against color
? Manage design presentation preparation ? mock-ups and mounting, powerpoint summaries, etc.
? Mentor and help develop skill set for junior Package Design staff.
? Enthusiastically support process improvement initiatives and embraces change.
? Keeps accurate project timesheets and timely project documentation.
? Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
? BFA in graphic design, package design or equivalent.
? Minimum of 4-6 years experience in graphic design with at least 2 years in wine packaging.
? Experience in distilled spirits, beer, beverage and cosmetics preferred.
SKILLS
? Disciplined in Illustration and Typography.
? Excellent color skills.
? Expert skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator applications and proficient in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office suite, notably PowerPoint.
? Possess a thorough knowledge of printing technologies and methodologies for all packaging components.
? Ability to gain thorough understanding of Marketing, Consumer Research and Design principals.
? Maintains a thorough knowledge of packaging trends, key competitors and sales channel characteristics.
? Maintains thorough knowledge of strategic brand development, branding and marketing equities.
? Maintains thorough knowledge of department functionality as well as package vendors and other winery departments.
? Good at learning new industry, company, product and technical knowledge.
? Ability to effectively analyze situations and attain successful resolutions.
? Ability to manage multiple projects and work well under pressure with little supervision.
? Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through.
? Expects superior results from self.
